WhatsApp Introduces a New Security Feature for Account Protection: How to Enable It

WhatsApp, a widely used instant messaging platform, is reportedly introducing a new security feature to enhance account protection. This new feature, called “Email address,” enables users to link their email addresses to their WhatsApp accounts for added security.

According to reports, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.24.10, available on the Google Play Store, has made this feature accessible to some beta testers, as reported by WABetaInfo.

The email address is intended to provide an alternative means of accessing the account in specific situations. To check if this feature is available for your account, you can configure it in WhatsApp Settings > Account > Email Address.

It’s worth noting that this feature is optional, but it is recommended for those who want to use their email to log into their WhatsApp account on other devices. However, the SMS-based login option is still available.

WABetaInfo points out that, “Even if you choose to associate your email address with your WhatsApp account, you will still need your phone number for the initial account setup, and you will always have the option to log in using your phone number.”

Your phone number remains the primary identifier for your WhatsApp account and a crucial method for logging in. The introduction of the “Email address” feature is aimed at improving security and providing users with an alternative means of accessing their accounts, enhancing the overall WhatsApp experience.
