WhatsApp has simplified the process of connecting devices for its users. The platform, owned by Meta, has introduced a new application tailored for Windows users. Similar to the mobile version, WhatsApp for Windows desktop is designed to enhance user experience, allowing seamless software usage across multiple devices.
Users can now link their WhatsApp accounts with up to four devices, ensuring synchronized, encrypted conversations even when their primary smartphone is turned off. This feature is a recent addition by WhatsApp. Upgrading the WhatsApp application on a Windows desktop grants users access to new features like video and voice calling options, as well as the ability to link their WhatsApp account with a wide range of compatible devices.
WhatsApp recently announced, “No charger, no problem. You can now connect up to four devices to WhatsApp, ensuring your conversations stay synchronized, encrypted, and accessible even when your smartphone is unavailable.”
To link your WhatsApp account with additional devices, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp on your primary device linked to your phone number.
- Go to “Linked Devices” under the “Settings” menu.
- Select “Link a New Device” and follow the on-screen instructions.
- To connect a second device, like a Windows desktop, open the WhatsApp Web page in a web browser (web.whatsapp.com).
- Use your second device to scan the QR code displayed on the website.
- Wait for device synchronization to complete. Your conversations will be visible on the second device.
- Follow the same procedure to link other devices. You can connect up to four devices, and as long as they are online, they will remain linked to your WhatsApp account. You can also log out of the WhatsApp application to disconnect your smartphone from the network at any time. However, if you don’t use your phone for more than 14 days, all connected devices will be automatically logged out for security reasons.
