United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, and his wife, Akshata Murty, recently visited India for the G20 Summit and took the opportunity to explore several landmarks in Delhi, including the iconic Akshardham Temple.
Rishi Sunak, the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is the first Indian-origin Prime Minister in UK history. He is also the son-in-law of Indian business magnate Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, making Akshata Murty his spouse and the First Lady of the UK.

Rishi Sunak was born in Southampton, England, into a Punjabi Sindhi family. He attended Winchester College for his early education and later graduated from Oxford’s prestigious Lincoln College with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). He furthered his education by earning an MBA degree from Stanford University.
After working as an investment banker for several years, Sunak entered politics and was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Richmond, Yorkshire.
Educational Qualifications of UK First Lady Akshata Murty:
Akshata Murty is the daughter of Infosys’ founder, Narayana Murthy, and education pioneer Sudha Murty. She completed her schooling at Baldwin Girls High School in Bangalore, Karnataka. She pursued higher education at California’s Claremont McKenna College, where she studied economics and French.
Akshata Murty also obtained a degree in clothing manufacturing from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and later earned an MBA from Stanford University, the same institution attended by Rishi Sunak for his postgraduate studies.
Despite their UK citizenship, both Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty maintain strong connections to their Indian roots, actively participating in the celebration of various Hindu festivals at their official Prime Ministerial residence.
