RBI’s UDGAM Portal: 30 Banks Now Provide Access to Unclaimed Deposits

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it has successfully onboarded 30 banks onto the UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits Gateway to Access Information) portal, enabling individuals to both search for and claim their unclaimed deposits.

In an official statement released by the RBI, it was revealed that on September 28, 2023, the portal’s search feature became accessible to the public. This development now encompasses approximately 90 percent of the unclaimed deposits in value terms held within the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund.

The UDGAM portal was initially launched by the RBI on August 17, with the primary aim of simplifying the process for the public to locate their unclaimed deposits spread across various banks, all in one centralized location. Initially, seven banks were part of the portal’s inception, with a commitment to expand the list gradually, ultimately including more banks by October 15th.
