Features of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana
- Basic Banking Facility – Under the scheme, a target was set to open a bank account in every household of the country.
- Accessible Banking Facilities – With the help of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, around 2000 households will be covered up to a radius of 5 kms and they will be given the benefit of accessible banking facilities.
- Financial Literacy Program – Beneficiaries will be taught how to use banking facilities and policies to access banking so that they do not face any difficulty in operating banking facilities.

Benefits of PMJDY
The plan envisages universal access to banking facilities with at least one basic banking account for every household, financial literacy, access to credit, insurance and pension facility. In addition, the beneficiaries would get RuPay Debit card having inbuilt accident insurance cover of र 1 lakh.
How many accounts have been opened
So far more than 40 crore bank accounts have been opened through Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. If the figures are to be believed, the number of beneficiaries under the scheme has gone up to 40.05 crore. So far more than Rs 1.30 lakh crore has been deposited in all these bank accounts. Under the scheme, accident insurance has been increased from one lakh to two lakh rupees.
Who is eligible for Jan Dhan Yojana account?
The person should normally be head of the family or an earning member of the family and should be in the age group of 18 to 59 (i.e. person should be at least 18 years old, and should not have turned 60)
What is the minimum balance required for Jan Dhan?
There is no requirement to maintain any minimum balance in PMJDY accounts. Interest is earned on the deposit in PMJDY accounts. Rupay Debit card is provided to PMJDY account holder.
What is Jan Dhan account limit?
A Small Account is ideal for those subscribers who don’t have the relevant documents to open a bank account under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana scheme. An account holder can deposit a maximum amount of Rs. 50,000 in this account.

Applicants have to follow the following steps to check bank balance through missed call: If you do not want to check Jan Dhan account balance through the portal, then applicants can do so by missed call. Applicants having Jan Dhan account with State Bank of India can check their bank balance by giving a missed call on 1800112211 or 8004253800. The applicants have to make sure that they give a missed call from the same mobile number which is registered in their bank account.
Difference between Jan Dhan account and normal account
A regular zero balance account typically does not offer any insurance coverage benefits. However, under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, you get a RuPay debit card when you open a Jan Dhan account. This card offers accidental insurance coverage of Rs. 1 lakh for all cardholders.

How to take loan
If the bank account of the applicants is already opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, then according to the deposits of the applicants in these accounts, the government can give an overdraft ranging from ₹ 2000 to ₹ 100000. With this money the applicants can start their own business or business and this money has to be returned. The conditions of these are very easy by the government, in which a loan of ₹ 100000 can be given without any guarantee.
This facility will be given to them through the bank and not online. For this applicants have to go to the bank branch. Applicants can be given loan up to 3 times of the overdraft month’s savings.
Pension Benefit
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is made by the central government. If the applicants have opened an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, then till now they can avail pension of ₹ 3000 per month by taking subscription of Pradhan Mantri Maandhan Yojana. If the age of the applicants is between 18 to 40 years then the applicants can apply for this scheme.
