The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows all Aadhaar card holders to modify their Name, Address, and Date of Birth on their Aadhaar card with the presentation of valid supporting documents. It’s important to note that no documentation is required for updates related to mobile numbers, email IDs, gender, photographs, or other biometric information.
Here is a comprehensive list of essential documents recognized by the UIDAI for updating the Date of Birth (DOB) or documents containing both Name and Address on the Aadhaar card:
- Passport
- Service Photo Identity Card issued by the Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Units (PSU), Regulatory Bodies, or Statutory Bodies.
- Pensioner Photo Identity Card, Freedom Fighter Photo Identity Card, or Pension Payment Order issued by the Central Government, State Government, PSU, Regulatory Bodies, or Statutory Bodies.
- Mark sheet or Certificate issued by a recognized Board of Education or University.
- Transgender Identity Card or Certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
- Birth Certificate issued by an Authorized Authority in the respective State under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, in conjunction with the Registration of Births and Deaths Rules of 1999/2000/2002 in the respective States.
- In exceptional cases of Date of Birth (DOB) change, a Self Declaration in the specified format, accompanied by the Birth Certificate issued by the Authorized Authority in the respective State under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, in conjunction with the Registration of Births and Deaths Rules of 1999/2000/2002 in the respective States.
Furthermore, the UIDAI strongly recommends that all Aadhaar number holders periodically update their supporting documents within their Aadhaar records, at least once every ten years from the date of enrollment. To assist with this process, the UIDAI has introduced a free service for updating Aadhaar card documents to make it more convenient for users.
